lat naylor works in baltimore, maryland where he lives with wife, barbara, and their
2 young sons, copeland and lane.

lat grew up in baltimore, and graduated from princeton university with a degree in urban studies. after three years of community development work, he dropped out of the urban planning graduate program at the university of california to complete a degree at the fashion institute of design. throughout the 1990’s, lat owned, operated, and designed “lat naylor/ think tank”, a clothing company based in san francisco. the simplicity of his design and quality of the clothing’s handmade workmanship garnered international acclaim and clientele. lat was named “california designer of the year” and a finalist for “cfda new designer of the year.” his work was featured in italian vogue, the new york times, the los angeles times, details, taxi, marie claire, women’s wear daily, and numerous japanese publications.

at the end of the 1990’s, lat closed the company to concentrate on making fine art. he showed at the san francisco art space TD156, and placed work in private collections throughout california.

lat returned to baltimore, and in 2003, embarked on a full-time, four year renovation/sculpture/meditation project rebuilding what is now his home/studio at 1515 park avenue. he returned to more traditional drawing, painting and sculpture work in 2008.

lat has shown at various spaces, including 1515 park, since that time.
his work is in private collections across the u.s. and japan.
